Book Review || Nevernight

All right so along with quite a number of people on Instagram I took part in a readalong for Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. Technically we were supposed to read about nine chapters a week, but I finished the book so that I could start reading Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas and so here I am with my thoughts on the book.
Now, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Stormdancer but I loved Illuminae, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from Nevernight.

Plot
Mia is the daughter of an executed traitor and now is all alone. Apprenticed by a deadly group of assassins she seeks revenge for her father’s death. As her past comes back to haunt her and a killer sets loose amongst the Church, that revenge may still be far away.
The plot of Nevernight took a while to kick in and make sense, but once it did it felt like a roller coaster of things happening. Every page felt as if something new was happening and it kept me reading, wondering what was going to happen to the characters and the main character.
It is definitely a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat, though sometimes it may get a little confusing it’s enjoyable for sure.

Characters
Mia was a badass lady who kicked ass and took no names. She is definitely a very interesting character, one with both her strengths and weaknesses, one that has suffered as a child and now carries the effects of said suffering for the rest of her life.
She was accompanied by a big band of characters, like any fantasy book this one has tons and tons of people that make an appearance in Mia’s journey. For me there were characters that were memorable, for example Tricc. Then however there were also characters that just faded away almost as soon as I met them again.

Overall
The book was a very good one, with semi-strong language and gore so beware before you start reading this that it’s quite a strong book when it comes to language or the contents that in includes. The writing, too, is quite interesting in how the story is written.
If you like fantasy books or kickass main characters, definitely give this book a try because it’s definitely worth it.
